North Portugal Property For Sale
Although not the cheapest property for sale in Portugal the property for sale in the north of Portugal offers some very different opportunities. The new award winning airport has really opened up the area to overseas property investors and this trend looks to be gathering pace.
North Portugal, has for the purposes of this website been classified as Porto and everything north of that. This includes the wine growing region of the Douro valley. Porto is an industrial town as well as a historical and beautiful city. This of course makes property prices pretty high and this in turn forces up the property prices in all of the surrounding regions.
There is also a lively tourist trade to consider providing reasonable rental incomes this is especially true in the Porto and Douro valley regions.
Coastal Property North Portugal
There are opportunities for coastal property purchases in the north of Portugal again they are not as cheap as the property in central Portugal or indeed the silver coast property however bargains can be found.
It is perfectly possible to find an apartment in Viana do Castelo for around 100,000 Euros and for a similar price you can get a decent restoration project in the area.
The beaches in the north of Portugal are similar to those in the silver coast. There is always plenty of space, lots of sand and rough seas, they are clean and dotted with fishing villages.
The weather In North Portugal
Is pretty much what you would imagine, having a coastline and a lot of hills just inland it rains a lot in the winter, in fact torrential rain. It is also a couple of degrees colder than it is elsewhere in Portugal. Of course it still does have plenty of sunshine here and the area is excellent for agriculture or low impact living.
All in all while property in the north of Portugal is not for everyone those deciding to venture there are rarely disappointed as it is a truly spectacular area with every type of view you can imagine available.
