Property in Lisbon
Lisbon is the capitol city of Portugal, it is also the most westerly city on the continent of Europe. Cosmopolitan, lively and an incredible blend of modern and ancient, Lisbon can take weeks to explore without ever getting bored, this makes it a top holiday destination for cultural holiday makers.
Of course this also makes Lisbon an ideal place to invest in property, indeed it is still possible to purchase an apartment in Lisbon for about €100,000 this surely will not last. As the current financial crises unwinds and the structural reforms that Portugal are undertaking take hold we will see a return to the vibrant property market that existed in Lisbon prior to 2009.
Reliable rental income for the property investor is always a big advantage and Lisbon offers this, the variety of property in Lisbon is huge, you can find anything from bedsits to luxury villas and although there are areas of Lisbon that are very expensive you can find some nice pockets that are affordable.
It is also very easy to get about in Lisbon with an integrated public transport system serving the whole of the city and its suburbs. The night life is excellent with choices for just about everybody. There are night clubs and bars for the young and plenty of theatres cultural centres and fine dining for those of us who no longer have the energy for the high life.
With a population of close to three million persons, Lisbon has a fine cultural mix, and a choice of cuisine that compares with any other European capitol. It is also a growing centre for international trade and its favourable ties with Brazil and a number of African countries, most notably Mozambique ensure that it is well places to grow into the future.
Portugal has several high tech industries many of which are based in Lisbon, with the business reforms that are ongoing the city is looking to attract attention from China and India in the coming years.
With business comes the inevitable rise in real estate values, I think we can be certain that the future of real estate in Portugal will be positive
