In a place called Carreira de Cavalos there are remains of an old castle that is said to be Moorish. Its first charter dates back to 1200. D. Sancho I was then the King of Portugal. In 1388, King D. João I promoted Alvaiázere to a Vila (small town) and King D. Manuel not only gave it a new charter in 1514, but also a new recipient: The Duke of Cadaval. The Parish Church had as patron the Knights of the Templer and later the Knights of Christ. But the memories left by History are not only in Alvaiázere.
