Property in Castelo Branco

Is largely a collection of rustic property and small villages more than half of the population of the municipality of Castelo branco is contained within the city itself. The name is derived from a Roman fortified settlement Castra Leuca though little is known about this part of its history.
The castle and the town where built by the Templars in the early 13th century there is also a record from 1182 of an area of land being donated by an important nobleman of the time called Fernando Sanches . If visiting the area the Jardim do Paco Episcopal is a must see it is perhaps the most impressive garden of its type in Portugal and contains many statues and other works of art surrounded by pretty terraces stairways and ponds.
The main attraction apart from the historical aspect of many of the surrounding towns (listed below) is the countryside which is largely unspoilt though a little arid in the summer. Temperatures can get around 40 degrees in the summer but there are some stunning lakes to cool off in around the historical town of Idahna A Nova where every two years one of the biggest music festivals in Europe is held.
The Boom Festival is mainly a trance festival but has many other genres there is also a strong leaning towards green technologies and sustainable living it is based in a national park of great beauty on the shores of a lake if you are musically inclined it is well worth a visit.
